Tax officials are employing data analytics to detect the “missing link” in supply chains that might lead to GST evasion 2023

GST Evasion 2023

GST Evasion 2023 | An official has stated that GST officers are utilizing data analytics to determine whether a specific sector’s entire supply chain is paying the appropriate amount of GST or if there is a discrepancy in the chain.

The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has increased its efforts to prevent evasion at the outset so as to improve compliance, in light of the detection of GST evasion of more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year that ended on March 31.

According to the official who spoke to PTI, “end-to-end” analytics are being used for a sector, along with “gap analysis” of taxes paid in a supply chain, to determine whether the entire value chain is paying the appropriate amount of GST or if there is a discrepancy in the chain.
