GST Advisory on Proposed e-Way Bill Enhancements Put on Hold
GSTN had proposed two new e-Way Bill changes:
- Mandatory “Ship-to GSTIN” in Bill-to/Ship-to transactions.
- Voluntary Closure of e-Way Bill facility.
These changes were earlier scheduled for 1 August 2026. However, through the advisory dated 29 July 2026, GSTN has put their implementation on hold until further notice.
Therefore:
- These changes will not be implemented from 1 August 2026.
- Taxpayers, ERP providers, GSPs and other stakeholders are not required to make production-system changes for now.
- The earlier advisories dated 9 June and 17 June 2026, along with the FAQs dated 2 July 2026, will be withdrawn from the GST Portal.
- GSTN will issue another communication if and when a new implementation date is decided.
