Introduction of Multistate Registration Facility on GST Portal
The GST Portal has introduced a new “Multistate Registration” facility to simplify the registration process for taxpayers who require GST registration in more than one State/UT under the same PAN.
Registration in Multiple States/UTs through One Facility
Taxpayers can now apply for GST registration in multiple States/UTs simultaneously under the same PAN. At present, this facility is available only for Normal Taxpayers.
Generation of Master TRN
A new “Multistate Registration” tab has been introduced on the homepage of the GST Common Portal. The applicant can select the States/UTs where registration is required. After selection, a Master Temporary Reference Number (Master TRN) is generated.
Submission of Common Registration Information (CRI)
Using the Master TRN, the applicant can enter the Common Registration Information (CRI), which includes:
- Business Details
- Promoter/Partner Details
- Authorised Signatory
- Authorised Representative
- Goods and Services
The information under the Master TRN must be submitted within 15 days.
Generation of Individual TRNs for Each State/UT
After submission of the CRI, separate individual TRNs are generated for each selected State/UT.The common information already entered through the CRI is automatically populated in each individual registration application and remains editable. The applicant is then required to provide the remaining State-specific details, such as:
- Principal Place of Business (PPoB)
- Additional Place of Business (APoB)
- State-specific Information
- Aadhaar Authentication
Key Benefit
The applicant is not required to enter the same common information separately for each State/UT registration application. This facility reduces repetitive data entry, simplifies the registration process, and facilitates ease of doing business.
